IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, A LIVE RADIO PLAY
In December 2016 the Masque Theatre performed an adaptation of the classic Christmas film 'It's a Wonderful Life, a Live Radio Play' by Frank Capra at the Holy Sepulchre, Northampton.
Performing in a Norman round-church poses its problems, along with creating a set for a radio play. The solution was for the audience to immerse themselves in this 'feel-good' Christmas classic. I created a studio within the church, complete with a studio door where you would be greeted by the sent of mulled wine, once within the art-deco New York tower block, 1940s christmas music played on the wireless, transporting you to a time gone by ready to be part of the live radio-play transmission. The play was complete with microphones, flashing applause light, on-air sign and of course add breaks.

"The stage is also yet another highlight, with Emma Barrow's quite brilliant art deco designed WBFR radio studio is the most perfect backdrop and also effortlessly merging into the classic Holy Sepulchre surround".
